The Saracen joust of Arezzo is an ancient game of chivalry that dates back to the Middle Ages.
Ity was originated as an exercise for military training.
This tournament is regularly held n Arezzo twice a year in June and September.
The four “Quartieri” or City wards that compete with each other are : Porta Crocifera, Porta del Foro, Porta Sant’Andrea and Porta Santo Spirito

The famous Palio of Siena is a horse race that is held twice each year, on 2 July and 16 August in Siena. This competition was started in the Middle Ages : Ten horses and riders, bareback and dressed in the appropriate colours, represent ten of the seventeen “Contrade “ or city wards.

The celebration of Mardi Gras (Carnevale ) is an annual event that takes place in Foiano della Chiana,in the province of Arezzo. It is one of the most famous and old celebration dating back to the year 1539.
The four “Cantieri “ of the town (Azzurri,Bombolo,Nottambuli and Rustici ) represent the four parts of the town.
All year long these “Cantieri “ work in competition on the preparation of an allegoric cart. The winner wins the Cup of Carnival
